ABOUT US

Home Guardian Angels (HGA) is a CA licensed home care organization (HCO) and respite service  provider vendorized through  the Department of Developmental Services  (CDSS) Regional Centers.  We focus on  in-home care to meet the special needs of patients with developmental disabilities, including: Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Autism. Our programs are designed to provide temporary relief from the demands of care giving, which helps reduce overall family stress. When a family member or care provider has to deal with such things as illness, emergency or even vacation, HGA respite services can ensure  that their loved one’s needs are always met.


WHAT IS RESPITE CARE
Respite is an “indirect” service that provides planned or emergency relief to individuals who are responsible for the primary care and support of an individual with special needs or a developmental disability. Respite care can range from a few hours of care provided on a one-time basis to overnight or extended care sessions These breaks, that respite care provides, allow families time to tend to the needs of their other children, spouses, and themselves.

Goals of Respite Care


  • Relieve families of the continuous responsibility of caring for a consumer with developmental special needs.
  • Reduce stress and help maintain family relations
  • Assist and strengthen the family as a unit
  • Provide families personal time to rest, relax, and recreate
  • Help families through periods of crisis and adjustment
  • Help improve long-term family stability and reduce the need for out-of-home placements or lessen the need for long-term residential services.
